MONTHLY NOTES 001 | October 27, 2025
I’m starting this newsletter as a space to share what I’m working on, thinking about, and discovering. If you’ve found your way here, thank you for being curious.
I’ve just launched a new website at simonganshorn.com in order to better display my works and frame the way I’d like to interact with my audience. It was made with love by Vaiva Staugaityte, who had this to say about it:
“I wanted to make something clean and minimalist that would tug on its guests’ memories of the old net, but that nonetheless maintained a sense of refinement and artistic playfulness. Similar to Simon’s intentions with his artworks, my intention with the design was to pull the user into the space between comfort and caution.
Furthermore, I wanted to prioritize indie tools to not only enforce conscious decision-making as a developer, but to once again reflect Simon’s specialization: personalized, safe environments and homes. In other words, if an AI-generated, bloated website with a bunch of trackers and ads can be compared to a warehouse, then in contrast a website like this is intended to be more like your childhood bedroom.
You’ll find three main sections on the site: works available for inquiry, an art archive, and a newsletter page. The intention of the latter is to allow Simon to interact with his followers in a more meaningful manner. His primary tool for this before was Instagram, which worked well enough, but was limiting in the method, timing, and variety of content he could post. Not only does the algorithm constrict reach, but the format constricts depth. With this newsletter, I hope for Simon and those curious about his work to be able to create a more comprehensive and sincere dialogue about art and lifestyle.”
I’ll be sending these newsletters out about once a month. Expect studio updates and works in progress, news about upcoming shows, books and music that have my attention, other artists I’m drawn to, and so on. Vaiva also photographs my work and practice in a way that really captures the energy of it, so I’ll share those images here too, along with other small discoveries we make that shape what I create.
Thanks for being here at the start.
Simon
